Understanding BT Business Support SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
Unlike standard residential internet, BT Business provides strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and dedicated UK-based support teams to guarantee rapid fault resolution. Depending on the package you choose (Essential, Enhanced, or Pro), you'll have access to one of three targeted customer support tiers designed to get you back online quickly.
What are the BT Business Customer Support Tiers?
-
Standard Care (Essential Packages): If you report a fault, BT aims to repair it within two working days.
-
Enhanced Care: This tier offers prioritised support and faster target resolution times to get your business back online quicker than the standard residential service.
-
Prompt Care (Pro Packages): Offers a next-working-day fault fix. If you report an issue, BT guarantees an engineer will aim to resolve the problem by the end of the next working day.
What Is BT Cloud Voice?
BT Cloud Voice is a great solution for businesses that may need a VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) system hosted in the cloud. This digital phone system is future-proof and is a great solution to avoid any impact of the PSTN switch-off that's happening in 2027.
BT Cloud Voice is designed for businesses with over five employees and those that require call diversion for remote working.

BT Business Summary
Best for: Any business that needs reliable full-fibre with excellent nationwide availability, strong stability, and flexible add-ons for VoIP, security, and remote teams.
Network: operates using its own Openreach network and has the widest availability footprint.
Broadband speeds: range from 76Mbps up to 900Mbps.
Contract lengths: 24 months up to 36 months.
Added features available: Static IP, Smart Hub 2 router, 4G backup with EE, phone line bundles, guest wifi, and IT support packages.
Why Choose BT Business?
BT Business is well-known for its wide coverage and business-grade features that many smaller businesses and multi-site organisations rely on.
-
Availability - BT uses the Openreach network. This means it’s available in more locations than Virgin Media Business.
-
Good reliability - Full-fibre performance is extremely consistent, with Ofcom-measured peak-time speeds typically at 97–99% of headline speeds.
-
4G backup - partnered with EE, one of the strongest performing networks in the UK.
-
Strong add-ons - BT Business offer static IPs, VoIP integrations, digital phone lines, advanced Wi-Fi equipment, and strong cybersecurity tools.
Potential Downsides of BT Business
-
Speeds vary - the fastest speeds are only available in locations where full-fibre has been rolled out. Other places are limited to 76Mbps, unlike Virgin’s much faster cable network.
Getting a Static IP Address with BT Business
BT’s Enhanced and Pro packages include a Static IP address (and it can be added to Essential plans). While home broadband uses dynamic IP addresses that change regularly, a Static IP stays the same. Your business will need a Static IP if you want to:
- Host your own internal website, email server, or file server.
- Run an advanced CCTV system with remote access.
- Set up secure VPNs so remote staff can safely access your office network.
- Use certain types of VoIP or advanced digital phone systems.
BT Business Performance
| Advertised download speed | 76Mbps | 300Mbps | 900Mbps |
| Minimum speed guarantee | Not stated | 150Mbps | 700Mbps |
| Ofcom measured peak time speed (8-10 pm) | 69Mbps | 303Mbps | 878Mbps |
